“Krzysztof Penderecki – the Heritage of Polish Music of the 20th and 21st centuries” – exhibition at the European Centre for Music in Lusławice

First prize in the exhibition concept proposal competition

“Krzysztof Penderecki – the Heritage of Polish Music of the 20th and 21st centuries” is an exhibition located at
the European Centre for Music in Lusławice, which deploys audiovisual technologies and multimedia
systems, presenting the oeuvre of one of the most outstanding Polish composers of contemporary classical
music.
The design of the exhibition arranges the space of the European Centre for Music without introducing any
significant changes to the facility itself, thus creating a new quality and stylistic unity with the minimalistic
architecture of the campus in Lusławice. The main object of the exhibition is to show Krzysztof Penderecki’s
remarkable role and contribution to the process of development of both Polish and global culture, as well as
to present the broad range of Polish contemporary classical music and its composers.
The designers divided the exhibition into the three following sections: “The Artist”, “The Meetings” and “The
Work”. Each of them constitutes a whole and can be discovered independently, in any order. The visitors will
have an opportunity not only to hear some famous compositions of Krzysztof Penderecki, but also see the
individual memorabilia and remembrances, as well as learn about inspirations and passions that shaped the
career path of this outstanding artist. Each of the sections is completed by interactive multimedia and
listening stands.
