Mirosław Nizio at EMYA 2025 with the Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko Museum Project

On May 24, 2025, Mirosław Nizio presented the concept of the Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko Museum during the European Museum Forum (EMYA 2025) conference, held this year in Białystok. The event brought together representatives from 42 institutions across 18 countries, who participated in five days of inspiring meetings, lectures and panel discussions. Among this prestigious group was Nizio Design International, showcasing a project that is exceptional both in theme and in the context of its location.

The Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko Museum, planned in the priest’s hometown of Okopy in the Podlasie region, is being developed to commemorate the life and spiritual legacy of one of the most important figures in 20th-century Polish history. Designed by Mirosław Nizio, the project envisions a space deeply rooted in the identity of the place and the surrounding landscape, blending contemporary architecture with an atmosphere of remembrance and reflection. As the architect emphasized, the design process was shaped not only by the final form, but also by research, teamwork and close collaboration with the local community and the family of Blessed Father Popiełuszko.

The museum will function as one of the branches of the Podlaskie Museum in Białystok – a cultural institution of the Podlaskie Voivodeship and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Its significance was highlighted by Wiesława Burnos, Deputy Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
