MUSEUM OF THE BORDERLANDS IN BRZEG

The Museum of the Borderlands in Brzeg will be a unique place not only in Poland, but also in this part of Europe. The proposed concept of revitalizing Gimnazjum Piastowskie and creating the Museum of the Borderlands aims to save the legacy of several generations of displaced persons from oblivion. The museum will show to the nations and cultures coexisting in this area the rich tradition and specific mythology brought here by those who arrived from the eastern frontiers of the country. The aim of the exhibition which will be the heart of the planned Museum is to present the Borderlands – their nature, landscape, architecture, history, and people – through a literary narrative. The courtyard of the Museum will be covered with grassy vegetation, single trees, islands of shrubs, as well as scattered groups of square stones which are to allude to the rocky material found in the Borderlands.
