WROCŁAW CONTEMPORARY MUSEUM

The project won first award in the architectural concept proposal competition. The building looks like a monumental cube that twists upwards around its own axis. This minimalist building design, an ephemeral black solid covered with stone structure, will be well integrated into Wroclaw’s urban tissue. The ferroconcrete structure is designed to be sunk into the ground to the depth of 1,5 m, hence it will not tower over the surroundings.

With its modular walls the interior will be easy to model and adjust to the needs of the permanent and temporary exhibitions. The building’s expressive outer structure will be contrasted with its light-coloured and neutral interiors, subordinated to exhibition purposes. In addition to exhibition spaces, the facility will also have a shop, restaurant, library with storage space, didactic rooms, and auditorium.
