The signing ceremony of the agreement between the Father Jerzy Popiełuszko “Dobro” Foundation and the Podlaskie Museum in Białystok on the establishment of the Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko Museum in Okopy is behind us.
Mirosław Nizio, head of our studio and at the same time the main designer of the building of the Fr. Jerzy Museum and its permanent exhibition, took part today in a press conference at the Podlaskie Museum, attended by Minister of Culture and National Heritage Piotr Gliński and the Marshal of the Podlaskie region and members of the “Dobro” Foundation: president Marek Popiełuszko, Fr. Jerzy’s nephew, vice president Józef Popiełuszko, the priest’s brother, as well as chairman of the program council Bogdan Romaniuk and Michał Matyskiel, mayor of Suchowola.
As part of the agreement, the Foundation will donate to the Podlaskie Museum in Białystok real estate in the village of Okopy (Suchowola municipality) for the construction of the headquarters of the future museum. We are currently finalizing the architectural design and arrangement of the permanent exhibition. According to plans, the Museum in Okopy is scheduled to open in autumn 2024, on the 40th anniversary of the priest’s death.
